The reason for this limitation on links is to ensure that you don’t give the search engine’s any reason to believe you are selling links, or running any kind of link scheme or link farm to artificially manipulate the search results. All the search engines, but especially Google takes this subject very seriously, and even the slightest indication that you are doing anything unethical is enough to cause you serious problems with your search engine rankings and your website traffic.
